The Samsung Galaxy has just been announced at a launch event in New York this afternoon. As Samsung unveil their new product they hope to bounce back from the disaster of the exploding Galaxy Note 7 in 2016.

Prior to the event Samsung promised a game changing device but does it live up to the expectations?
A main talking point of the phone is the questions over how safe the battery in the phone is going to be. Samsung assured us that this phone has gone through rigorous battery testing addressing the fear over another potentially exploding phone.
So, what changes have they made?
Design

Visually the phone has taken a major upgrade. The screen stretches across the whole of the phones width. Put simply it’s beautiful, just look for yourself. It will also have curved edges which we have already seen with the S7 edge so nothing surprising there.
The S8 will boast two phone sizes, bigger than that of the S7 at 5.8 inches for the smaller model and 6.2 inch for the larger one.

Lastly the home button will not be a button. The “Invisible” button hiding beneath the glass the S8’s the home button will follow the model of several competitors and brings a welcome change.
Here’s one that you’ll have to get used to. Samsung have put the fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone.
It comes in 5 colours.

Hardware
The front facing camera is whopping 8 mega pixels, so your selfies will be crystal clear.
The S8 uses the Snapdragon 835 chip from Qualcomm
Just like its predecessor it will be waterproof, so you can be as clumsily as you like around water.
For those Techies out there the phone has a 10nm processor which is their fastest processor yet.

The phone is also wireless charging enabled and has heightened security with iris scanning, fingerprint sensors and face recognition so you don’t need to remember passwords anymore.

Finally, they have obviously improved the battery, but the proof will be in the pudding!
Bixby

Samsung introduced their voice assistant called Bixby. Even if it is a bit later than others in the market it is a welcome addition and even has a Bixby button on the side of the phone.
The price is not yet known for the Irish market but in the US it will be starting at $720 so it definitely won't be cheap!
